Bobcat Tracksters,
At the completion of our
Indoor T/F season we have a lot to be proud of. Looking back at the
1st day of practice we couldn't be happier with how far all of our guys have
come. There has been 79 personal bests set since
the first indoor meet which is amazing. The boy's are
working very hard to compete for top spots as well as have a strong
push for the state level competition. One of the things I love about track
and field is that it offers several opportunities for all athletes to
compete. In the last week we competed in three meets.
Wartburg COED
3/18: This meet was a highly competitive meet with many schools of our
size. This was a good gauge to see how we stack up against like
competition. The boy's had many top ten finishes and set many personal
bests. The only downfall of the meet was that it took 7.5 hours. See
attached results.
UD Indoor
Classic: This meet was a great opportunity for everyone to get another
chance to compete against great competition. The boy's did very well
performing. It is always great seeing guys motivated to perform at top
levels. and want more.
WaMaC Conference
Indoor: This was the final meet of our indoor season. We saw
many teams that we will see at our Conference Outdoor meet as well at our
district meet. We had 10 top 3 finishes and several others that placed in
the top 8. We ended up winning the Indoor Conference by 17 points. This
was a total team effort and the success was a direct result of the work the
boy's put it in practice. We also had many of our JV athletes finish in
the top 8 amongst varsity competiton.
In other news: The boy's
voted for captains on Monday and the results are in: Reid Mettert (Sr.),
Taurus Black (Sr.), Josh Pierce (Sr.), Jake Rosalez (Sr.), Riley Pfeiler (Sr.),
and Curtis Burds (Sr.) I am confident these boy's will be great leaders
for our team setting good examples for the underclassmen. They will learn
values to help them be successful in life and they will in turn pass those
values to the underclassmen.
I received some interesting
news just the other day that I thought I would pass on. The USA T/F
association polled the attendance for all 50 states State Track and Field
Competition and Iowa led all states with a total of 34, 311. Oregon came
in 2nd with 26, 000. The meet that we host in the state is truly an
awesome experience for any athlete to attend.
Finally, parents if you could
prompt your sons to get their fundraiser launch forms done by Monday that would
be great! I've attached a copy.
