Bobcat Tracksters,
I apologize for the delay from my last email. Hopefully all were able to spend some quality time with family and friends over our Easter Break. A lot has happened since the last update was sent out so I will highlight some of those things.
We concluded our indoor track and field season on March 18 and 19th at the WaMaC Conference Indoor and Dickenson Relays at UNI. The indoor season was highlighted with many personal bests as well as some very competitive marks being set. We as a staff thought we performed very well at our Conference meet amongst some very good teams as usual. The only downfall of the Indoor season was some significant injuries to many guys who are finally now just recovering from these. We are looking forward to the Outdoor season if we could ever get some nice weather to actually have our meets. We have already lost 4 meets in our outdoor season and this is very frustrating to us as coaches and even more so for our athletes who have been working extremely hard. Attached are the results from the last 2 meets.
Recently, we also hosted our overnight Team Retreat. This was a huge success as usual. This is always one of my most favorite experiences of the season as I get to see the guys truly bond. We had many fun activities throughout the evening geared towards team work and bonding. We had two fantastic speakers in Bob Frasher and Aron McDermott (both former WD grads). Speakers always provide valuable messages for the guys to digest and apply to their lives. We also had 2 meals served provided by our parents which was fantastic. THANK YOU PARENTS. Overall, the retreat was a success and I look forward to seeing some of the values learned being applied to the guys lives.
On Monday we officially launched our fundraiser so if many of you receive letters, it worked. This is very nerve racking for me due to the fact it is new and we are asking for money which is never easy.
I also would like to officially announce the hiring of our 4th coach, Cody Snitker. Coach Snitker is a Loras College graduate and Waukon native and will be in charge of our jumpers. We are very excited to have Coach Snitker on staff.
In the next coming days check out our website for some historical information from our previous coaches as well as a 1971 graduate Herb Aschtgen. We are planning on having a nice celebration at Bobcat Relays to celebrate 50 years of men's track and field. We look forward to seeing you at any upcoming events. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
Upcoming Events:
Beckman COED: Friday 4/5
Bobcat JV Invite: Monday4/8
Saber Relays (DeWitt): Tuesday 4/9
Hawk Invitational (Manchester): Thursday 4/11
