Good Evening Bobcat
Tracksters,
This will be my first official update of the 2014 track and field season.
What an exciting school year we have had so far at Western Dubuque.
The fall sports kicked us off in the right direction from day one having a
great deal of success along with the Celebrate our Drive contest which was
really a neat event for all of our students and community to experience.
The winter sports just wrapped up with one of the greatest finish amongst
all sports. Boy's basketball had another unbelievable year just coming up
short in a heart breaker with Wahlert. The Bowling teams finished with 4th
place finishes at the state meet. The wrestling team won their first
district championship in school history and sent 6 qualifiers to the state meet
coming home with 3 medals. Finally, the girl's basketball team had their
best season in 27 years finishing with a runner up finish at the state
tournament. Congratulations to all of the successes our previous sports
had! It is exciting to see our school compete at elite levels and we
should expect nothing less.
Our season has been off and running since Feb.17 and so far we are very
pleased with the boy's efforts. We have a record number of boy's out with
70 and they are very motivated to have a successful season. We have
competed in 2 meets so far at the Loras invitational and the Mustang Indoor at
the University of Dubuque. The boy's competed outstanding at both meets
and set many personal bests. One of the things that we as coaches really
enjoyed was the commitment to improve immediately following the meets. I
have attached a copy of the results from both meets for you to view. This
week we are idle and have great training days with surprisingly great weather.
Next week we will be launching our fundraiser which I've also attached our
pre launch form and parent letter if any of you would like to pledge or know
someone who would please let me know. Again, we are very optimistic of the
success many of our athletes can accomplish this season with a lot of hard work.
For those of you alumni or track enthusiasts Coach Ressler designed a
wonderful website with many different history links and information. Make
sure to check it out and you might see your name! Also you can follow us
on twitter and facebook (Links below) Thank you for all of your support
for our program, it doesn't go unnoticed!
