Bobcat Tracksters,
At the end of week 3 I couldn't be happier with the progress our guys are making each day. We have put the guys through a lot of work despite very poor conditions. All of the snow is becoming more and more of a nuisance. The guys have a had such a positive attitude through each practice. Our team Motto this year is "GO" and the guys break down each day of practice with: Go-Fast, Go-Far, Go-Together, Go-Bobcats. There is definitely an excitement swirling around the program with so many guys coming out (Currently at 69) and the middle school numbers will have as many or more than last year. It seems like a new guy shows up to practice each day. This Tuesday we will start our season competitions off at Wartburg and Loras College. Most guys will have multiple events to compete in. I've attached the order of events so you can see what your son will be running. Also, I've attached the meet info (no Wartburg yet) with some times.
With anything that is new there is always questions. As most of you know we are launching a new and exciting fundraiser this year. Not only with this reward our athletes with lifelong memories, but also state of the art equipment. I really need help from you the parents with the fundraiser. Right now all the boys have to do is gather 12 contacts. We will then enter the contact info on the affinity fundraising website. Then the a letter will automatically be generated to each sponsor with a picture of your son on it. Our goal is that all of the boy's can be pledged for at least $150 each between all 12 sponsors. The boys have great incentives (IPad, Ice Cream social, steak dinner, pizza party, t-shirts) On our end the boys will be required to contribute 5 hours of community service. I believe the boys should do something memorable for this including: Feed the homeless, coach special olympic athletes, and work youth track meets held at the high school. If any alumni is interested in pledging you can shoot me an email and I can add it to some of the boy's lists.
Lastly, We were looking at having our retreat on Good Friday. I feel that this will have too many conflicts with Easter weekend so I have moved the date to Friday March 15 immediately following our UD indoor meet at the High School. This is such a valuable experience for the boy's and I will speak more about this at the parent meeting on Monday March 11 at 6:30 pm.
For your convenience I've attached an updated copy of our schedule. Thank you and I look forward to a fantastic season.
In Track,
Coach Jasper
